Meet Lynda Whisman Humphrey

Grandmother, Educator, Wall of Honor recipient, Women’s Advocate, founder of humanitarian programs in Mexico, graduate of Bothell High School Class of 1963, Northshore Schools Foundation Endowment Leadership Committee

Lynda Humphrey is a trailblazer, breaking the ‘glass ceiling’ when she was named the first female vice-principal in the Northshore School District in 1977 and became a principal the following year. As she moved into top-level administrative positions, Lynda mentored other women to achieve their potential. For fun, she reached to the skies, earning her Pilot’s license with both land and float ratings in single-engine aircraft.   Her concern for others led her to be involved in the foundation of humanitarian projects in Mexico. Over the years, she has organized annual food, health, and clothing donations for children who literally live at the garbage dump. Currently, Lynda, and her husband Larry, spend time enjoying their granddaughter, Sheridan, continuing to work on educational opportunities for all children, and traveling between Puerto Vallarta, Methow Valley, and Lake Forest Park.

Lynda is passionate about the value of public education and shares why she believes in the Northshore School Foundation’s Endowment as a key to opening doors for all students.

But it’s best to have Lynda tell us why she believes in giving to the Northshore Schools Foundation Endowment Fund.

In Lynda’s own words…

“Why do I donate to the Northshore Schools Foundation Endowment Fund?  Why am I asking you to donate to the NSF Endowment Fund?

Let me boil it down for you:   

I give to the Northshore Schools Foundation because in this world it takes money to make some things happen.
I give because I want the Foundation to continue into the future.
I give because I want to help our youth learn, experience, achieve and inspire others.
I give because I want to keep opening doors for our youth, helping them see different ways of learning, performing, doing, working, and contributing to this world.
I give because it is important to give back.

I’m asking all of you who attended any of our Northshore Schools to give something back.  It doesn’t have to be BIG.  It can be small.   It all adds up.

Just think, if each graduate of our school district gave the Endowment Fund $100 each … that would add up to a lot of money.   What if everyone who ever worked for Northshore gave $100 to the Endowment Fund?
We would make the work of the Northshore Schools Foundation live on forever. 

Give now to the Northshore Schools Foundation Endowment Fund to ensure the Foundation continues into the future.  You can also list the Foundation in your Will.  Your gift doesn’t have to be big. You don’t have to be rich. A gift of $5,000 or $10,000 or $15,000 will be appreciated. It all adds up.
